Pause…

After getting your colors done, one of your first steps is to just pause.

Instead of running out to get a whole new wardrobe, start with what you have. You might even be surprised by what you find in your own closet. Here are some initial things you can do -right after your Color Analysis- to help you navigate your new palette:

  • Step 1. Pull out your season’s swatches and take an editing eye to your clothes (use the other seasons’ swatches too, because sometimes it really is a process of elimination). Take everything that IS in your color palette push it to the front of your closet. Everything that is NOT in your season push it to the back.

  • Step 2. Now look at what’s remaining. Are there big gaps? Are you out of a coat or are you desperately needing tops? When you start with what you already have, it can help bring focus and order to the things you might want to invest in later.

  •  Step 3. Choose your outfits from the front of your closet (your season) for the next month and just take notice of how you feel.

You might find that it takes you less time to get ready in the morning. Or you might notice that outfits are easier to put together. Or you might find that your skin has a really lovely glow. Or you might find you have the confidence to wear that one color that you were never really sure of before.

Awareness is always a good thing and it will look different for each person.

So, with that…  Start with what you have and then go from there. It’s okay to slowly build your wardrobe over time. There’s no need to rush. I’m here to say that pausing is okay. Sometimes it’s needed to help bring clarity to something new and exciting.

Question for you… Have you organized your closet according to your season yet? What was the first thing you noticed? I’d love to hear!
